Synopsis

The documentary reflects day after day of the life of the Mseya's family: Alberina, Maria, Amos and Orsolina, in a little town near Ilula, on the High Lands of Tanzania. How they work, how they go to the school, their familiar life, their struggle of every day.

The documentary departs from the school of the direct cinema. There is an inserted interview, but the rest of the film structure tries to be a movie. The objective was the cinema of the reality. I tried to take care of every shot. A shot that asks for a reflexion. Provoke emotions was my goal, not to describe situations.

An aesthetics have been sought in every shot. To find the colors of Tanzania, the African light. I tried to look for an atmosphere. To bring the spirit of Africa to the West.

The Mseyas is a movie filmed from the heart, which wants to come to the heart of the people. To thrill, and to provoke a reaction.
